As of May 2020, the majority of Republicans or Republican-leaning adults favored the expansion of offshore oil and gas drilling in the United States, at 63 percent. In 2018 figures were higher, 85 percent of Republicans or Republican-leaning adults favored offshore oil and gas drilling, and 56 percent of Democrats or Democrat-leaning favored this expansion. By 2020, 22 percent of Democrats and Democrat-leaning favored the expansion of offshore gas and oil drilling in the United States of America.
